The Future of Hertfordshire's Library Service
Hertfordshire Library Service held a public consultation from 21st October to 31st December 2013.
The consultation is now closed and we have received more than 10,000 responses.
If you would like more information on the consultation, please read our discussion document, see our frequently asked questions or watch the introduction to public meetings by Andrew Bignell, Head of Libraries, Culture and Learning.
Hertfordshire County Council recognises the vital role library services play in Hertfordshire’s communities and in recent years, changes in the way people live and technological advances mean many of our customers now access these services differently. Hertfordshire Libraries must respond to these changes; embracing innovation and new opportunities to continue to provide high quality services for Hertfordshire residents while funding for all public services continues to be under great pressure.
Our aim is for Hertfordshire libraries to be fit for the future, providing residents with the right services in the right places, and making sure that the money we spend provides best value and benefits as many residents as possible.
We need your help to devise a new 10 year strategy for Hertfordshire Libraries to ensure that our services reflect the changing needs and priorities of local communities.
The results of the consultation will inform the development of a new library strategy for presentation to the County Council in the late spring of 2014.
